Bahamadia is a true icon of conscious hip-hop. Hailing from Philadelphia, she established herself in the 1990s as one of the most respected voices in the underground hip-hop scene. In 1996, she released Kollage, a masterful debut album produced by DJ Premier, the Beatminerz, and others—now widely regarded as a genre-defining classic. The record includes some of her most celebrated tracks, such as “Uknowhowwedu,” “I Confess,” and “Total Wreck,” which remain staples of ’90s hip-hop.
Her smooth flow, razor-sharp lyrics, and instinctive musicality give each of her tracks a remarkable depth, blending jazz, soul, and urban poetry. It’s no surprise that she became closely affiliated with the Gang Starr family and collaborated with artists such as The Roots, Talib Kweli, Slum Village, and Erykah Badu.
As an authentic visionary, Bahamadia continues to inspire new generations—and we’re thrilled that, together with her live band and DJ, she will captivate the Moods audience with her magnetic stage presence.
